Exploring and Planning: research studies, assessments and strategic planning

Over the past years, Niska’s team of professionals has built solid experience in elaborating participatory assessments as well as designing strategic planning processes. Capitalising on innovative working tools which are adapted and used based upon clear intervention principles such as widespread participation, collaboration, innovation and community ownership, the team has undertaken several mandates relating to development and revitalisation of urban and rural communities, located in Northern and Southern Québec. The expertise of Niska’s professional team members reside in the operationalisation and development of local sustainable development management tools and methods. Participatory evaluation methods, in the spirit of project stakeholders’ engagement and capacity development, are part of that expertise.

Niska’s theoretical and practical knowledge, very often co-constructed, are developed from a range of concrete mandates with diverse clients: local and regional decision-makers, public structures dedicated to community development, etc. Our approach is oriented towards a betterment of practices and the development process.
